In 2009, Dr. Óscar Fernández-Capetillo (Spanish National Cancer Research Centre Madrid, Spain) won the Eppendorf Young Investigator Award for his groundbreaking research showing that endogenous DNA damage can through replicative stress (RS) lead to accelerated ageing.

On the occasion of his visit to Eppendorf AG, Hamburg/Germany, in August 2010, he also met with Kerri Smith (Podcast Editor of Nature Publishing Group, London) for an interview  In this interview Óscar Fernández-Capetillo speaks about his work and about the significance of winning the award for him and his colleagues.
